I fell in love with the gorgeous crochet wooden teethers from Blush & Blue as soon as I came across them on Facebook! I ordered one for Maia straight away and after I'd received it I absolutely had to add them to our website. We've just added to our colour range of teethers and now also have a selection of wooden crochet rattles available! The detail in the crochet is amazing (I've dabbled in crochet so can really appreciate the workmanship and skill involved in making these wee beauties), Lucie is a very talented lady!
I always love reading about other mums in business!

We'd love to hear how Blush & Blue came about, when was it established and how did it evolve into the business it is today?
I started Blush and Blue in January 2017, a few months after my son Archer was born. It first started off as a hobby, just creating things for my kids especially Archer who teethed for what seemed months on end. A few of the girls in my coffee group commented how great my creations were and encouraged me to do something more with them. One of them was my first official customer. Blush and Blue was formed, fueled by my passion for natural and eco friendly children’s products as well as my need to have a creative outlet to keep me busy whilst on maternity leave, and a way to fund outings and treats for the kids. I was amazed at how quickly business picked up. People seemed to like my more vintage and natural options for teethers and now rattles as well.
Tell us a little bit about the team that runs Blush & Blue.
It is pretty much just me behind the creative side of Blush and Blue. I am the one that comes up with product ideas, sources the right materials and makes them all up. My husband is of course my biggest supporter and encourager and does help with the business side of things when it’s anything I don’t quite understand, as well as taking the kids now and then to give me time to get orders done. I am a qualified early childhood teacher by trade. I am back at my full time job now, and I am the team leader for the teachers that look after the littlest of children, up to the age of two. I am also one of the permanent teachers looking after the
0-walking age group. I like to think that my experience and love for this age group is a big reason why I am so passionate about creating products that are natural and eco friendly, so that our precious babes can safely explore and learn for many years to come.
What gets you out of bed in the morning and gives you the drive to keep Blush & Blue ticking?
Even though I am back at my full time job now, I still love having something that is mine, that I created and that I know people enjoy. Some days it’s busy, having a full time job, being a mum to two busy children and managing Blush and Blue, but when I get excited to pick up my hook to start a new order, or when a new product idea pops into my head, or when I get tagged in photos almost every day I know that it’s worth those crazy busy times.
Are there any exciting things coming up for Blush & Blue that you can share with us?
Yes! I have a few new ideas that I am working on for the older kiddies in your lives and some new designs for the littlest of babes, that I won’t share just yet. I can share that I am expecting my new silicone bead colour range for our new multi sensory teethers to arrive soon, and I can’t wait to share them with you all! I’m hoping to move away from making to order, to having stock ready to ship straight away so that they can get to you all in a much quicker time frame. It may take a while to get stock levels built up as I’m a one man team creating these beauties. Keep your eyes peeled though, because I think they will sell quick!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I am a huge supporter of handmade and am lucky enough to have a tribe of Mumtrepreneurs around me who support and encourage each other. Just sending out a huge thanks to them all and to let any mumma (or dad) out there know to pursue your dreams, and turn them into a reality.
